Margie Maxey

Co-Founder

Breeding Program Director

& Operations Manager

    My Story

Margie is the heart of Maranatha Aussies, bringing a lifetime of experience, dedication, and deep respect for the dogs she breeds and raises. As Co-Founder and Breeding Program Director, she is responsible for selecting and shaping future generations of Australian Shepherds, ensuring they meet the highest standards of health, temperament, and conformation. But her role extends far beyond breeding—she oversees the entire operation, ensuring that every aspect of Maranatha Aussies, from daily care to long-term planning, runs smoothly and efficiently.

Her journey with dogs began in childhood, growing up with her mother’s Pekingese and her father’s hunting dogs. This early exposure taught her that dogs, like people, have unique temperaments, personalities, and purposes. Her passion led her to work in rescue and rehabilitation, where she gained invaluable experience working with dogs of all backgrounds—from neglected and obese to aggressive and unruly. She has an intuitive ability to read and understand animals, giving them the patience, structure, and care they need to thrive.

Shaping Future Generations & Ethical Breeding

At Maranatha Aussies, Margie is involved in every stage of breeding and puppy development. She carefully selects breeding pairs based on genetics, structure, and temperament, ensuring that each litter represents the best qualities of the breed. She personally oversees whelping, tail docking, and dew claw removal, monitors daily weights, and ensures each puppy is thriving. She carefully observes temperaments and developmental milestones, ensuring that every puppy is matched with the right home.

But Margie’s role isn’t just about producing exceptional puppies—it’s about preserving and improving the breed for future generations. She is deeply committed to ethical breeding practices, ensuring that only the best candidates are selected for future breeding while ensuring that puppies not suited for breeding are placed in loving pet homes.

    Overseeing the Farm Daily Operations

Beyond her work as Breeding Program Director, Margie is responsible for overseeing the operations at Maranatha Aussies, ensuring that the facilities, training programs, and daily care routines run seamlessly. She works closely with her team, managing everything from whelping room logistics to facility maintenance, feeding schedules, and health monitoring.

She collaborates with her son, Donald, a Certified Dog Trainer, to implement structured training and socialization programs for each puppy. Her daughter-in-law, Jennifer, an animal behavior student, contributes her expertise in canine and livestock behavior, enhancing the farm’s training approach. Their dedicated Canine Socialization Specialists, Kaylee and Trey, play a crucial role in the daily handling and confidence-building of each puppy. Together, they create a well-rounded program that prioritizes both the mental and physical well-being of every dog.

Together, this family team ensures that every puppy receives the best possible start, with a focus on early training, proper socialization, and overall well-being. Their collective experience allows them to tailor their approach to each dog’s individual needs, making Maranatha Aussies a program built on knowledge, passion, and generations of experience.

    A Passion Beyond Breeding

Margie’s commitment extends beyond her own breeding program. She continuously researches canine nutrition, behavior, and best practices, ensuring that every decision is informed and intentional. From selecting calming music for the puppies to choosing materials that enhance comfort and productivity, every detail is thoughtfully planned. She personally oversees the website and social media, often working late into the night to ensure that Maranatha Aussies remains transparent and connected with future puppy owners.

With a lifetime of experience, an unshakable dedication to ethical breeding, and a deep love for the breed, Margie ensures that every Maranatha Aussie is more than just a dog—they are a beloved companion, a trusted partner, and a valued member of their forever family.
